Benjamin Franklin is credited with incorporating the first volunteer fire company in 1736.  The Union Fire Company of Philadelphia was based on loosely organized volunteer firefighting companies in Boston and other cities.

Today, professional volunteer firefighters protect life and property through out America. Membership Information:  Membership is open to any member of a volunteer fire department or volunteer ambulance company in Suffolk County, N.Y. with some Irish lineage or affiliation.  Yearly dues are $20. Interested applicants are invited to complete the online application and bring it with them to one of our meetings.
